Growing up in Sydney, Rachelle’s had a lifelong connection to the sea and is easily hypnotised by the motion of the ocean. And although she doesn’t surf anymore, every evening before bed she checks the surf report to see if it’s worth getting up for the dawn patrol, with camera in hand. When she’s shooting from the whale-watch boat, she’ll often get so distracted by the waves that she forgets the wildlife and starts photographing the light passing through the water, mesmerised by the way it creates shades of aquamarine and sapphire.
