IN PICTURES: Humpback whales of Sydney and Australia’s East Coast

Every year between May and November, more than 25,000 humpback whales migrate from Antarctica to the warm tropical waters of Australia’s north to breed. Hugging the East Coast of Australia, the Humpback Highway offers plenty of opportunities to see these wild giants doing their thing on their epic 10,00km round trip. There are countless vantage points along the coast – but your best bet is to get out on a boat to see them up close. Some of my favourite spots to do just that: Hervey Bay, Eden, Merimbula, and of course, right here in the Harbour City, Sydney! The first whales of the 2018 season are already on their way – so to help you get excited, here’s a few pics from the last season.
